Description

This outstanding 3-hour lecture on diseases of swine covers the gross morbid anatomy and various pathologic conditions affecting swine of all ages.

Objectives

Demonstration of gross morbid anatomy and the pathogenesis of a wide range of disease in swine.
By the end of this lecture, the viewer will gain an increased understanding of the gross lesions, as well as the presenting clinical signs, pathogenetic mechanisms and pathophysiology, as well as the appropriate differential diagnosis for a wide range of diseases affecting swine.

Matti Kiupel, Dr. vet. med., Dr.Habil, MVSc, PhD, DACVP

Dr. Kiupel is an associate professor at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University. He is a board certified veterinary pathologist and works as the section chief of anatomic pathology at the Diagnostic Center for Population and Animal Health at Michigan State. Dr. Kiupel studied veterinary medicine at the Freie University Berlin, Germany and at the University of Cambridge, UK and received his veterinary degree in 1996 and defended his doctoral thesis in 1999. He completed a residency and PhD in 2001 at Purdue University, IN and received his habil in 2010 from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, Germany. Dr. Kiupel has extensive experience in diagnostic pathology as well as molecular and is renowned for his work in diagnostic and prognostic classification of neoplastic diseases of animals as well as the pathogenesis of viral diseases. During his 10 years at Michigan State University, Dr. Kiupel has authored more than 150 publications and book chapters and has been an invited guest speaker at many national and international meetings. He is heavily involved in continuing education, which has taken him all over the world lecturing to veterinary pathologists, residents, veterinarians and veterinary students.
