Description

This course contains tips you can use every time you do chest radiography. It covers the kind of things that can make a huge difference in the quality of thorax radiographs. Some of the information is not new and is well known by imaging professionals but other ideas are tips that are not as widespread and not previously published. The course covers what views to take, measuring and technique setting tips, and positioning strategies and information.

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
Objective 1:
Learn what views make up a complete thorax exam; when a VD view is indicated and when a DV view is indicated; and why taking thorax exams on a full inspiration is important.
Objective 2:
Learn Thorax positioning and technique setting tips and recommendations
Objective 3:
Learn the specifics of technique setting and adjustments based on patient body composition
Objective 4:
Learn Optimal kVp and mAs technique guidelines
Objective 5:
Have an assessment checklist they can use to evaluate their own radiographs.

Amy Lang has been an educator and technologist in veterinary radiography for more than 30 years. She used a bachelor’s degree as a pre-veterinary student at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and an associate degree in Radiologic Technology at Northcentral Technical College in Wausau, Wisconsin to combine her interests in the two areas. As a result of being an educator and radiographer at the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine and Teaching Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin she started VetRadCE.com. The site has provided Registry of Approved Continuing Education (RACE) approved courses consisting of veterinary imaging topics since 2008.
