After graduating from the University of Missouri's College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Martin completed a rotating small animal internship at Texas A&M University. After several years in an emergency/critical care practice, he completed a residency in veterinary anesthesia at the University of Illinois. He then held faculty positions at the University of Missouri as a clinical instructor in anesthesia and at Purdue University as an assistant professor, where he was the first clinical anesthesiologist in the history of the veterinary school. He then joined Pfizer (now Zoetis) as a member of the Veterinary Specialty Team where he is now a senior veterinary specialist.
