Dr Lobetti qualified as a veterinarian from the University of Pretoria in South Africa in 1987. He completed the BVSc(Hons) degree in 1990, the MMedVet (Small Animal Medicine) in 1995 and a PhD in 2004. He was involved in small animal practice from 1988 - 1992. He was a senior lecturer and associate professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Science, University of Pretoria from 1992 - 2000, whereafter he joined the Bryanston Veterinary Hospital as internist, a position he still holds today.
