Description

This program will cover the pathophysiology and therapeutic consequence of type 2 diabetes mellitus; pharmacokinetics of currently drugs products used its treatment; counseling for a patient regarding the potential side effects of therapy, and will focus on insulin and pramlintide.

Objectives

Insulin therapy
• Understand the role of insulin in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM)
• Describe the pharmacokinetics of currently available insulin products
• Understand common barriers to insulin use and potential strategies to overcome those barriers
• Understand treatment recommendations for the initiation and appropriate titration of insulin (and GLP-1 RAs) in T2DM
Role of Pramlinitide
• Understand the role of pramlintide in the treatment of DM
