Description

Through this presentation, the participant will better understand the complex laws and regulations affecting pharmacy practice. These laws and regulations touch all aspects of patient care and the provision of pharmacy services, including marketing and generation of referrals, product quality and safety, billing and reimbursement, and patient privacy. Failure to comply with these laws and regulations often results in fines and penalties that can have a substantial impact of your practice. This program will provide an overview of important healthcare regulations, as well as an update as to recent revisions, interpretation and enforcement of those regulations.

Identify innovative practice techniques not currently being utilized in attendees own pharmacy practice.

Jay McEniry currently serves as the Executive Director of Patients and Physiciansfor Rx Access (known also as SaveRxAccess), which is a coalition of patients,physicians, pharmacies and healthcare organizations fighting to maintain patientaccess to compounded medications in face of significant coverage cuts by thirdparty payors. Prior to joining SaveRxAccess, Mr. McEniry was Executive VicePresident, Chief Administrative Officer, and General Counsel of a pharmacy servingspecialty, long term care, and compounding needs of prescribers and patients intwenty states. Mr. McEniry is active in the healthcare bar, serving the 11,000member American Bar Association Health Law Section as a member of itsGoverning Council and Chair of its Programs Committee. Mr. McEniry speaksfrequently on behalf of the ABA Health Law Section and other organizations on avariety of health law topics.
