Description

Description: At the completion of the WSPA Contraception Certificate, the pharmacist will be able to develop a Contraceptive Pharmacy Practice (CPP), and have an in-depth knowledge of contraceptives to help patients select the best therapy for them based on potential side effects, adherence, and contraindications.

At the completion of this activity, the pharmacist will be able to:
Develop a contraception practice in their pharmacy
Prescribe appropriate initial contraceptive methods, based on patient characteristics and contraindications.
Identify situations to refer patients to a primary care or emergency provider.
Describe how to counsel a patient about side effects, efficacy and adherence to oral contraceptive

To Receive Credit:
You must read the material and take the test at the end. You will need to get a score of at least 70% correct responses. If you do not achieve 70% or better, you will be allowed to take 2 retakes. If you pass with a 70%, you will receive a certificate and the CE will be uploaded to the CPE Monitor within a few days. You will need to make sure that your NABP e-Profile ID# and Date of birth are entered into your profile under the CPE Monitor Integration Details. If this information is not entered your CE can not be uploaded.

Dr. Jenny Arnold
on behalf of Washington State Pharmacy Association

Jenny Arnold is the Director of Practice Development for the Washington State Pharmacy Association. She received her PharmD from the University of Washington School of Pharmacy in 2006, and completed her Pharmacy Practice Residency the next year at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, WA. Dr. Arnold is a Clinical Assistant Professor with the University of Washington School of Pharmacy. As the Director of Practice Development, she has helped pharmacists to meet the needs of their practices and community through continuing education, development of collaborative drug therapy agreements, and building links between patients, communities and pharmacists.
