Course Availability

This course is only available to trainees days after purchase. It would need to be repurchased by the trainee if not completed in the allotted time period. This course is no longer available. You will need to repurchase if you wish to take the course again.

Description

This course covers gross and microscopic lesions that are basic responses to injury in birds. Comparisons to mammals are made to point out differences between the species. The focus is on understanding the basic responses to injury and the specific lesions associated with each. Lesion distribution patterns and features or "things", many of which are not bird, are illustrated. Links to 36 virtual slides are provided for selected lesions/conditions so that students can evaluate microscopic lesions in more detail.

Objectives

Objectives
Given gross and/or microscopic lesions, students will identify basic responses to injury, identify specific lesions associated with each of the basic responses, provide the lesion distribution pattern, identify any features present, make a morpholoigic diagnosis, and if, possible, a disease diagnosis. When a disease diagnosis is not possible, differential disease diagnoses will be provided.
