Description

This CEU course provides guidelines that are intended to assist social workers in their ability to develop effective transition plans and to drive cross-system reentry approaches between behavioral health and criminal justice agencies. The guidelines examined in this course can be used as a tool to ensure that community-based approaches respond to the multidimensional needs of clients who are involved in the criminal justice system and the agencies that supervise them.

Objectives

On completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
1. Discuss what effective transition planning and implementation can do for the individual and community.

2. Explain the eight risk factors that places a person at risk for future criminal behavior.

3. Compare and contrast the principles of the Risk-Need-Responsivity model and give examples of each principle.

4. Identify how social workers should develop a comprehensive approach to screen and assess in order to identify individuals’ needs that affect their likelihood of achieving positive criminal justice and other recovery outcomes.
