The 2 topics discussed in this module are: Fluoride rinses, gels and foam presented by Professor Svante Twetman, Fluoride varnishes for adults and children presented by Professor Jan Clarkson This is the third module in a 4 part series of recorded webinars conducted after the 2015 International Association of Dental Research Meeting in Boston, Massachusetts.  This conference was convened to inform attendees about the range for both high fluoride and boosters with a focus on high-risk populations. This third module will focus primarily on Fluoride Delivery Systems.

Dr. Jan Clarkson PhD

Svante Twetman is a specialised paediatric dentist and professor of Cariology at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, Denmark. He graduated from the dental school in 1974 and holds the PhD and Odont. Dr. degree from Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden. He is also consultant at the Maxillo-facial unit, Halland Hospital in Halmstad, Sweden. The research is focused on fluoride and microbial aspects on oral ecology, biofilms and caries risk assessment/caries prevention in children and young adults. The research has to a large extent been performed in clinical settings with supplementary laboratory studies. Dr. Twetman has authored and co-authored over 200 peer-reviewed papers. He is a consultant of The Swedish Council on Health Technology Assessment (SBU) for assessment of systematic reviews and knowledge gaps. Among several awards, he received the IADR distinguished scientist award in 2010, IADR Borrow Award in 2011 and Song-Eum Med-Pharm Award in 2012Jan Clarkson graduated in dentistry from Newcastle University in 1984 and in 1994 she completed a PhD, entitled Development of a Classification and Index of Dental Treatment Experience, at Manchester University.
