Course Availability

This course is only available to trainees days after purchase. It would need to be repurchased by the trainee if not completed in the allotted time period. This course is no longer available. You will need to repurchase if you wish to take the course again.

Description

This section will discuss the global impact of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and the issue of focusing so much attention on end-stage CVD. Students will become familiar with many common non-CVD conditions which are strongly associated with increased heart attack and stroke risk. They will also learn many easily observed physical signs of increased CVD risk. Knowledge about these conditions and physical signs will enhance recognition of patients needing further CVD assessment. Perhaps more importantly, many attendees will realize they may have some jeopardy for heart attack and stroke risk. This knowledge may prompt a thorough CVD assessment which may prove vital for the student’s well-being. Significant healthcare savings from treating periodontal disease will also be discussed.

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
Objective 1:
Enumerate statistics showing cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a devastating healthcare issue.
Objective 2:
Recognise the plethora of health issues associated with increased CV risk.
Objective 3:
Analyse your own potential risk for CVD.
Objective 4:
Comprehend the myriad number of potential referrals based on CVD.

Adjunct Professor Texas Tech Health Sciences

Amy L Doneen, DNP co-founded the Bale/Doneen Method and the Heart Attack & Stroke Prevention Center. She is a principal instructor in the Bale/Doneen Method, training other medical, dental and healthcare providers across the country. She is the owner and medical director of the sought-after private clinical practice in Spokane, Washington; The Heart Attack & Stroke Prevention Center, which serves patients from all over the world. Dr. Doneen is one of the nation's leading specialists in preventing heart attacks, stroke and diabetes. She is co-author of the bestselling book, Beat The Heart Attack Gene.

Since 2002, she has given well over 800 lectures, presentations and key-note speeches to medical, dental, nursing and healthcare groups in the US and abroad, including the American Heart Association, Cleveland Heart Lab, MD-VIP, International Atherosclerotic Society, and the European Atherosclerosis Society. Dr. Doneen has presented data in the United States, Finland, Spain, and Italy. Her media interviews include Fox news TV and radio, ABC TV, The Wall Street Journal, Huffington Post and ESPN, which reported on how Dr. Doneen screened coaches, scouts and former players from Seattle Seahawks football team for cardiovascular disease (CVD), using a state-of-the-art ultrasound test.

Dr. Doneen is cofounder of the Bale/Doneen Method international preceptorship program, an accredited continuing medical education (CME) course teaching health care providers advanced techniques to detect—and reverse—CVD before the patient suffers a heart attack or stroke. Hundreds of MDs, ARNP’s, dentists and healthcare specialists have completed the training, some of whom subsequently opened their own prevention clinics, hailing the course "an incredible resource…the future of medicine," "the best, by far, educational program I have ever attended," and "the education of a lifetime…the only totally comprehensive program in the world for the prevention of this disease." For the last 16 years, Dr. Doneen has been recognized as an international leader in the prevention of heart attacks, strokes and type 2 diabetes. She continues to pave the way for other nurse practitioners and lectures to all audiences, including cardiology, dentistry, internal medicine, family practice, nursing and functional medicine. Convinced that the standard of care leaves people at risk for the deadly morbidity and mortality associated with cardiovascular events, she continues to practice the science and art of CV prevention while publishing her ambulatory research and lecturing to groups across the country.

It is her belief that the BaleDoneen Method can eradicate cardiovascular disease events as the number cause of death by the year 2020.
