Description

AIM: The aim of this programme is to provide a learning resource for all dental team members which meets the GDC requirements for Decontamination and Disinfection.

This 1 hour module covers the principles of infection control. There are interactive questions and activities throughout the module which are not assessed. However, on completion of the module there is a separately assessed exam. You will need to achieve 70 % for the final exam to complete the module and access your CPD certificate. You will have two opportunities to achieve the required score.

Completion of this module and passing the associated exam will satisfy the GDC requirements for 1.5 hours of CPD in Decontamination and Disinfection.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module you should be able to:

a. Explain cross infection and outline the main transmission routes for micro-organisms in the dental setting.
b. Outline our duty of care regarding cross-infection.
c. Describe the impact of emerging pathogens in infection control.
d. Understand the compliance requirements for immunisation.
e. Perform effective hand hygiene.
f. Use appropriate personal protective equipment.
