Description

Brushing and flossing remain the preferred method for plaque control. Unfortunately, many patients lack the motivation or ability to maintain low plaque levels, leading to periodontal disease, dental caries and other oral health conditions. Chemotherapeutic rinses provide a convenient, costeffective way to enhance plaque control achieved with mechanical hygiene. This course reviews three common agents used in chemotherapeutic rinses and recommends factors to consider when advising patients to add a rinse to their oral hygiene routine. When you complete a continuing education course on dentalcare.com, a form will come up that requests your name, address, etc. If you are a member of the AGD, make sure to fill out the field that asks for your AGD membership number if you are not an AGD member, leave blank. When you hit submit, a copy of the proof of completion is emailed directly to the AGD and PG. For your records, make sure to print a copy of the proof of completion certificate. Disclaimer: Participants must always be aware of the hazards of using limited knowledge in integrating new techniques or procedures into their practice. Only sound evidencebased dentistry should be used in patient therapy.
