Description

Parkinsons disease PD is a chronic, progressive, degenerative disorder of the central nervous system resulting from the decreased availability of the neurotransmitter dopamine, a chemical that transmits messages to the cerebrum to control movement and coordination. The course will provide an overview of the disease, describe drug and nondrug treatments commonly used to treat PD, and present ways for dental professionals to modify and adapt the provision of oral health care to meet the needs of patients who have PD. When you complete a continuing education course on dentalcare.com, a form will come up that requests your name, address, etc. If you are a member of the AGD, make sure to fill out the field that asks for your AGD membership number if you are not an AGD member, leave blank. When you hit submit, a copy of the proof of completion is emailed directly to the AGD and PG. For your records, make sure to print a copy of the proof of completion certificate. Disclaimer: Participants must always be aware of the hazards of using limited knowledge in integrating new techniques or procedures into their practice. Only sound evidencebased dentistry should be used in patient therapy.
