Description

According to the National Institute of Health, there are over 100 million people missing teeth. The number of implants placed in the United States continues to increase each year. This course covers the history of implants, current types of implants, procedures, and patient care.

Objectives

At the completion of this course, the dental professional should be able to:
Objective 1:
Understand the history of dental implants and Dr. Brånemark’s breakthrough discovery of osseo-integration.
Objective 2:
Understand the difference between subperiosteal and endosteal designs.
Objective 3:
Distinguish between different dental implant treatment options.
Objective 4:
Relate the value of CT scans prior to implant placement, the“standard of care”today.
Objective 5:
Answer questions on informed consent.
Objective 6:
Recite surgical protocol.

Complete surgical set ups.

Deliver pre- and post-surgical instructions to the patient.

Sanda Moldovan, DDS, M.S., CNS

Sanda Moldovan, DDS, M.S., CNS, specializes in dental implants, periodontics and integrative nutrition. She graduated from the School of Dentistry of Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio in 2001. She continued her studies in the Department of Postgraduate Periodontics at UCLA, concurrent with a Master of Science in Oral Biology. After she completed her postgraduate program in 2004, Dr. Moldovan accepted a lecturer position at UCLA School of Dentistry. Today, she is in private practice and provides dental implant lectures in the Continuing Education Department of the UCLA School of Dentistry. She is a regular on the Doctors TV show on CBS and has appeared on several other TV networks.

Dr. Moldovan is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Periodontology. She continues to stay involved and up-to-date with the latest research and technology available in her field, including laser techniques and stem cell bone grafting techniques.
