Objectives

At the conclusion of this presentation, you will be able to:
Objective 1
Identify the qualities of a perfect alginate impression.
Objective 2
Identify defects in impressions, the causes, and correction of the defects.
Objective 3
Demonstrate the step-by-step process of producing perfect mandibular and maxillary alginate impressions and state why each step is important.
Objective 4
Recognize the result of not performing a step correctly, the defect it has caused, and what should be done to correct the problem.

Dr. Poling is full time faculty at New York University College of Dentistry, Department of Orthodontics. She currently teaches Invisalign™ to dental students and orthodontic residents. She is also the Director of the Predoctoral Invisalign™ Clinic where she teaches dental students how to deliver Invisalign™ orthodontic treatment to patients. She is a Board-certified orthodontist and had a private practice for many years. Dr. Poling was trained in dentistry and orthodontics at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington, in the United States.
