Description

Children with anterior crossbites must be treated early to avoid traumatic occlusion and possible fracture of the incisal edges of the incisors.

Children with posterior crossbites must be treated early with appliances to expand the upper arch in order to correct the malocclusion and also correct facial asymmetry.

This unit is the second in the series and should followed by Orthodontic Records.

Objectives

On completion of this course the clinician will understand:
The appliance of choice for the anterior crossbite at an early age would be the maxillary Anterior Sagittal Appliance. This appliances is designed to open the vertical and to move the upper four incisors anteriorly to correct the anterior crossbite.
