Description

This 30 minute online vet nurse CPD uses septicaemia as a template to discuss the spectrum of treatments for sick neonatal foals.  The treatments discussed are also applicable to neonatal maladjustment syndrome, neonatal isoerythrolysis, prematurity and system based illnesses. The tutorial will cover clinical signs, principles of diagnosis and treatment plans – to include supplementing gamma globulins, fluid and electrolyte balance, tube feeding, oxygen therapy and nursing care.  Treatment of specific conditions, such as diarrhoea, pneumonia and septic arthritis will also be discussed, along with measures to prevent neonatal infections.
