Aidan graduated from University College Dublin in 1982 and spent the next 14 years in small animal practice. In 1996 he founded the Avian and Exotic Animal Clinic in Manchester where he is now the clinical director of a three vet team specialising in exotics. Back yard poultry are now a sizable percentage of the caseload due to the more advanced avian medicine skills required when treating the individual bird. Aidan is a holder of the RCVS certificate of Zoological Medicine since 2000 and a chartered biologist since 2001. He has had many papers and book chapters published in the field of exotic animal medicine and surgery. Currently he is editing the new Poultry Manual for the BSAVA having co-written three chapters.
