Description

This workshop is the first part of a two part series. The first part looks at the risk factors, protective factors, and safety planning for suicidal individuals. Participants will gain an understanding of how to effectively assess suicidal risk and help ensure safety for individuals who may be considering suicide as an option.

Part 2, which is optional, will focus on working with children and adolescents and issues concerning suicide.

Objectives

Risk Factors
Participants will understand the specifics of the numerous risk factors for suicide
Understanding Lethality
Participants will understand the differences in lethality of different mechanisms.
Protective Factors
Participants will consider protective factors in regular interactions with clients.
Safety Planning
Participants will gain an understanding of basic safety planning with suicidal clients.

Ms Debbie Mann LCSW

Debbie is a graduate of New York University and has a wide array of professional experiences. Her knowledge and experience in providing psychotherapy has been with adults, adolescents, and children.

In addition to psychotherapy, Debbie also has many years of experience providing trauma debriefing during times of critical incidents and serving as an expert witness for children. Debbie also consults with those looking to start programs or organization and writes and delivers trainings, workshops, and presentations. She is also a trainer/workshop presenter for Turn The Page LLC and consults on a national basis to share her expertise. Debbie also enjoys teaching at Montclair State University and provides Continuing Education workshops through Rutgers University.
