Description

Evoking is an essential part of Motivational Interviewing. This second part of a three-part Motivational Interviewing series focuses on inviting and acknowledging change talk.

Objectives

Learners will learn tangible skills to evoke change talk when working with clients.
Learners will learn techniques and specific exercises that can be used to invite and acknowledge change talk when working with clients who are ambivalent about making a change.

Mr Bernard Showers LCSW, MAC
on behalf of Rutgers University School of Social Work

Mr. Showers is currently a licensed clinical social worker working as an outpatient MH and SUD clinician. Bernie is certified as a Master Addiction Counselor (MAC) through NAADAC. In September, 2016 he attended the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers Train-the-Trainer event and is now one of approximately 1,500 MINT Trainers from around the world.

Mr. Showers has provided Motivational Interviewing lectures and trainings to local, regional, and national audiences.
