Description

Natural Help for Dry Eye Patients We all know that the last of the baby-boomers have entered their presbyopic years. Remember presby stands for old, and opia stands for eye. Therefore, dry eye will continue to be on the increase as these baby-boomers enter their senior years. As eyecare professionals, it s important for us to understand the importance of dry eye and it s effect on the human visual system. We will take a look at the effect of dry eye, and offer many recommendations for people experiencing dry eye.

Objectives

Objectives
Upon completion of the course the participant should be able to: describe the causes of dry eye; list the three tear layers; describe several reasons why people may have dry eye; list several symptoms of dry eye; recommend a few topical remedies to assist patients experiencing dry eye; list a few nutritional supplements to assist patients experiencing dry eye.

Ms. White is a graduate of Erie Community College, and is the former Program Director of the Opticianry Program at Mater Dei College in upstate New York - having taught there for 16 years. She is the 1995 National Federation of Opticianry Schools Educator of the Year. Debra served as the Chair for the Commission on Opticianry Accreditation from 1993-1995, and has held many positions in the New York State Society of Opticians. Ms. White is co-author of Management for Opticians, and has served on several VOSH missions to Mexico to provide eyewear to the needy. Currently, Debra is a contributing author to Vision Care Product News.
