Donald Read
on behalf of Alameda County Bar Association

Don Read has been a Certified Taxation Law Specialist for more than 30 years and has concentrated his practice on family law tax issues for more than 25 years. He practices both in Berkeley, where he has his independent practice, and in Palo Alto, where he is tax counsel to Lakin-Spears. Previously, Don was an attorney-adviser in the Treasury Department’s Office of Tax Legislative Counsel, and has been a partner at law firms in Honolulu, San Diego and San Francisco. Among his accomplishments are a 2010 landmark private letter ruling in which the IRS recognized the community property rights of California registered domestic partners, and an appointment to the Internal Revenue Service Advisory Council.
