Description

Educational grant provided by Boehringer Ingelheim: This presentation will cover the current recommendations for diagnosis and management of diabetes mellitus in cats. It will include topics such as patient assessment, initial diagnostics, insulin choices, stabilization, ongoing monitoring, and client education. It will also present the most current resources for the clinician.

• Learn how to fully assess feline diabetes mellitus patients at diagnosis
• Understand the different types of insulin available for treatment of feline diabetes mellitus
• Learn how to stabilize newly diagnosed feline diabetes mellitus patients
• Understand how to provide ongoing support and education for owners of cats with diabetes mellitus

Susan Little, DVM, DABVP (Feline)
on behalf of American Association of Feline Practitioners

Dr. Susan Little received her BSc from Dalhousie University (Nova Scotia, Canada) and her DVM from the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph. She has been in feline practice since 1990 and achieved board certification in Feline Practice in 1997. Dr. Little is part owner of two feline specialty practices in Ottawa, Canada. She is a board member and President (2015) of the American Association of Feline Practitioners, as well as being a past board member and Past President of the Winn Feline Foundation. Dr. Little joins the National Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners in 2015 representing the American Animal Hospital Association.
