Description

Learn about the integrative care modalities - TENS and neuromuscular electrical stimulation - and the applications for managing the veterinary patient.

Discussion includes: the different types of stimulators and how they work, indications and contraindications for using electrical stimulation, applications of these modalities in managing pain and muscle strengthening after injury; specific conditions that can benefit from either of these modalities including: postoperatively (orthopedic and neurologic surgery), osteoarthritis, degenerative joint disease, and in geriatric patients.

Dr. Chiaramonte is a graduate of Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. She completed a rotating medicine and surgery internship and an internal medicine residency at the Animal Medical Center in New York, NY. She is also a former director of the Rehabilitation and Fitness Service at the Animal Medical Center. Dr. Chiaramonte owns a b­outique mo­bile pract­ice that s­pecializes­ in concie­rge medici­ne and reh­abilitatio­n, and she serves as a Veterinary Advisor for Assisi Animal Health.
