Description

In this written course, the author presents his theories and techniques for successfully negotiating around root canal impediments, and explains how to create shapes with adequate resistance form to produce optimum treatment results.

Dr. Buchanan begins by discussing the 6 major types of impediments, and explains how to recognize an impediment during negotiation procedures, based on tactile clues. He goes on to describe his techniques for effectively traversing these challenges, and reviews the tools and methods necessary to be successful.

Finally, the author describes his suggested techniques for shaping around impediments, including the use of both rotary and hand files to shape up to and beyond the impediment, and explains how to create the continuity of taper necessary to achieve an ideal obturation outcome.
