Description

The breakthrough Laser-assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP) offers many advantages over conventional flap periodontal surgery or scaling and root planing for the treatment of periodontitis. This no-cut, no-sew technique is bringingrevolutionary outcomes into the treatment rooms of general dentists and periodontists alike, allowing the profession to battle against a disease that threatens the health of more than 80 percent of Americans.

Objectives

Objectives
Appreciate the proportion of American patients who suffer from moderate to severe gum disease. Summarize the steps and components of the LANAP protocol for treating periodontitis. Understand the differences between conventional flap surgery and laser-assisted new attachment procedures. Have an awareness of the percentage of general practitioners who perform probe examinations and the need for more.
