Description

Methods for developing a gingival margin of high integrity using direct composite and/or glass ionomer-based materials will be explored through case presentations, discussion and selected literature evidence. Suggestions will be made for scientifically-based, straightforward preparation and finishing guidelines that save time, conserve tooth structure, and optimize the longevity and durability of the bonded posterior restoration. The increasing role of large posterior direct composites will be discussed, especially as a durable compromise option for some teeth that otherwise would receive full crowns.

Objectives
