Description

Custom abutments train the soft tissue immediately following implant placement, establishing gingival contours that ease the delivery of the final restoration and minimize chairside adjustments. While there is a perception that stock abutments are more affordable, a careful weighing of the clinical efficiencies and advantages offered by custom abutments suggests that patient-specific, CAD/CAM milled components are more cost-effective. Given the optimal clinical outcomes fostered by custom abutments, they will become the restorative option of choice as more clinicians observe their benefits firsthand.

Dr. Jack Hahn discusses the optimal restorative results he has observed since converting to custom abutments, highlighting the exceptional fit, margins, contours and emergence profiles exhibited by the final restorations he has placed since leaving behind stock abutments.
