Description

Among many of the challenges faced by oral health professionals, the challenge of making their patients’ dentitions last a lifetime – with comfort has moved to the forefront. Dentin hypersensitivity is an enigma that is affecting our population in greater numbers and at younger ages. This course reviews the theories of dentin hypersensitivity, its causes and its contributing factors. Emphasis is placed on patient assessment, planning for treatment and prevention, the development of individualized self –care instruction, understanding the application of in-office, at-home and combination therapies and evaluating clinical outcomes. Cindy received her Associate of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from St. Petersburg Junior College in 1983 and her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Central Florida in 1995. She is currently enrolled in the Graduate Dental Hygiene program at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, School of Dentistry, Division of Dental Hygiene.Cindy practiced dental hygiene for 12 years and was an adjunct clinical instructor at Valencia Community College for 2 years. Cindy is the Manager of Clinical Research & Education for DENTSPLY Professional, located in York Pennsylvania. Through the years, Cindy has been active in her local and state levels of her professional association and has served as Vice-President, President-Elect, President and Editor of the Greater Orlando Dental Hygienists Association, her local component, as well as Central District Treasurer. She has also served as Secretary, Chair-Elect and Chair of the American Dental Education Association’s Section on Dental Hygiene Education. Cindy is a member of the ADHA, ADEA and AADR.Cindy has authored a CE course on www.dentalcare.com, two articles in Access, and an article in the JDH. She has presented nationally and internationally to dental/dental hygiene audiences.
