Description

This course will show clinical cases ranging from the minor injury to an avulsed tooth. Treatment considerations will be discussed for crown infraction, crown fractures of mature and immature teeth, and root fractures.

Objectives

Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to do the following:Be familiar with a standard classification for injuries to the dental hard tissue and pulp.Be able to recognize, diagnose, and treat the various injuries to the dental hard tissues and pulp.Understand the kinds of root fractures and the necessary treatment modalities that depend on the location of the fracture.

Dr. Donald Antrim, DDS

Dr. Antrim has a national reputation as an educator, clinician and lecturer in endodontics and is Board Certified by the American Board of Endodontics. He is an original native of Colorado, born and raised in Denver. He presently calls San Diego his home. After a three-year stint in the U. S. Marine Corps, he earned a BA degree at the University of Colorado in 1961. After teaching school in Denver for a short time, he entered dental school at the University of Nebraska in l963, was elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Society and graduated in 1967. After a short period in private practice, he entered the U. S. Navy and spent a 24-year career as a Navy dentist. Since retiring from the Navy in 1992, he enjoys a part-time practice in endodontics in San Diego. The career in the Navy gave him the opportunity to use his training as an educator. After completion of endodontic training and receiving a master's degree at Loma Linda University in 1975, he had the opportunity to teach general dentists during their fellowship training in the specialty. In addition, he spent four years training graduate students in endodontics at the Navy's Graduate Dental School and four years as Director of the school. During his tenure at the dental school, he earned masters degrees in Higher Education and in Health Services Administration from George Washington University. He was also elected into the International College of Dentists. Dr. Antrim has lectured all over the United States, in Asia, and in Europe, presenting over 300 lectures and continuing education courses. He has authored seventeen professional articles, a chapter in an endodontic textbook, and was editor of an issue of Dental Clinics of North America.
