Description

There exists the possibility for medical emergencies to occur in the dental office while treating pediatric patients. The ability and recognition a medical emergency along with initiating emergency treatment could be the difference between life and death for your young patient. With some medical emergencies, there can be absolutely no hesitation with treatment. You must know how to respond as well as treat with the appropriate emergency medications along with equipment in order to possibly sustain life!

John B. Roberson, D.M.D. is from Hattiesburg, MS where graduated from Hattiesburg High School. He attended the University of Southern Mississippi where he received his Bachelor of Science. Dr. Roberson obtained his dental doctorate at the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry in Jackson, MS. He received numerous awards and honors including becoming President of the American Student Dental Association his third year. Dr. Roberson performed his residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at University Hospital at the University of Cincinnati. His training included anesthesia, dentoalveolar surgery, facial trauma, reconstructive surgery, cleft lip & palate surgery, pathology, advanced trauma life support, cardiology, and trauma surgery. He served as Chairman of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons Residents Organization as well as one of the founding members. Dr. Roberson has dual board certifications. He is a Board Certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon as well as Board Certified by the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. He is a member of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, Southeastern Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, Mississippi Dental Association, South Mississippi Dental Association, and the Mississippi Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is a co-founder of the Institute of Medical Emergency Preparedness. Dr. Roberson has lectured and written extensively on the subject of medical emergency preparedness and training. He co-developed the curriculum for Advanced Life Support for Dentistry (ALSD) and the Emergency Response System, which has been endorsed by both national and state organizations.
