Description

This presentation describes and demonstrates the rationale and methodology for making accurate and detailed alginate (irreversible hydrocolloid) impressions and stone casts.

Objectives

As a result of taking this course, participants should understand:
Objective 1:
The affect of water/powder ratio on alginate impression material accuracy, viscosity, and setting time
Objective 2:
The affect of water temperature on alginate setting time
Objective 3:
How to control alginate viscosity and setting time for easy and extremely accurate alginate impressions
Objective 4:
How to select and adjust impression trays
Objective 5:
The use of multiple alginate viscosity mixtures for improved impression accuracy and detail
Objective 6:
The importance of alginate/stone combination for cast surface detail and texture
Objective 7:
A method for pouring accurate, bubble and void free stone casts.

Karl E. Hegyi, DDS, FAGD

As Owner/Director of The Center for Occlusion, TMJ Sciences and Esthetic Rehabilitation, Dr. Hegyi maintains this full time private practice in North Royalton, Ohio, which focuses on the restorative and esthetic rehabilitation of patients with pain, structural, and esthetic disorders involving Masticatory System Biomechanical factors.
Dr. Hegyi is a visiting faculty member of the Dawson Academy in St. Petersburg, Florida, a member of the Continuing Science Circle for Thommen Medical, a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, and a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon. He is the creator of the “Physiologically Driven Treatment System” and is internationally published and educates dentists from around the world regarding biomechanical factors and their impact on Restorative, Esthetic, and Implant Dentistry. He is also a member of the American Dental Association, Ohio Dental Association, Greater Cleveland Dental Society, and American Equilibration Society.
