Description

Autism affects 1 in 88 US children. It is more common than pediatric AIDS, diabetes, and cancer combined. Individuals with autism have difficulties with communication, social interaction and sensory processing. These characteristics pose very unique challenges in a dental setting. This course will give all team members a better understanding of the disorder and prepare professionals for the rewarding experience of helping patients with autism. When you complete a continuing education course on dentalcare.com, a form will come up that requests your name, address, etc. If you are a member of the AGD, make sure to fill out the field that asks for your AGD membership number if you are not an AGD member, leave blank. When you hit submit, a copy of the proof of completion is emailed directly to the AGD and PG. For your records, make sure to print a copy of the proof of completion certificate. Disclaimer: Participants must always be aware of the hazards of using limited knowledge in integrating new techniques or procedures into their practice. Only sound evidencebased dentistry should be used in patient therapy.
