Description

The importance of a patent airway cannot be overemphasized. Patient who are mouthbreathers often a constricted maxillary arch and crowded teeth. The constricted maxillary arch can also sometimes cause the mandible to move retrognathic which results in a Class II skeletal malocclusion.

Objectives

On completion of this unit the clinician will understand:
Participants will learn how to evaluate airway constrictions and how to refer the patients to E.N.T. (Ear, Nose Throat) specialists. X-rays will be taken of the nose, evaluation of enlarged adenoids and tonsils.
