Description

The ideal time to treat an anterior open bite due to a thumbsucking habit or tongue thrusting is as early as possible (age 6-9).

This presentation will describe the various orthodontic instruments used to treat patients.

Bruxism is a serious problem that is best treated when the children are younger to prevent damage to the permanent teeth.

This unit is the 5th and final in the series and will complete Session #1 of a 5 Session Course.

Objectives

On completion of this unit the clinician will understand:
One of the main reasons that children brux is due to airway obstructions either due to nasal allergies, enlarged adenoids or tonsils. This course will discuss how you examine and diagnose airway obstructions and referral to ENT (Ear, Nose,Throat) specialists for treatment. The solution after the airway obstruction has been corrected is to use composite buildups on the lower primary molars to restore the vertical dimension to normal.
