Description

This course is designed to provide the proper definition of halitosis (bad breath), a common problem that prompts patient to seek dental management. An overview as well as symptomatology was presented. Pathophysiological and bacteriological explanation of the condition was discussed to understand the various sources and causative factors of halitosis. Methods of evaluation and diagnosis such as self- identification, professional examination were detailed. The course provides various ways of self-treatment and professional dental and medical management for this common problem.

REDA A. ABDEL-FATTAH, BDS, MS, MPS, is a practicing dentist in Boca Raton, FL. He emphasizes evaluation and management of orofacial pain and TMJ disorders. In addition to his dental education, Dr. AbdelFattah completed two master’s degrees. The first is in materials science and engineering with emphasis on biomaterials; the second is in professional studies with a concentration in biomechanical trauma. Named as an expert by plaintiffs and defendants in numerous TMJ injury cases, Dr. Abdel-Fattah is a sought-after lecturer and the author of many articles and books. A member of the Academy since 1987, he is a Fellow ofthe AACP and a Diplomate of the American Board of Craniofacial Pain.
