Description

Identity transformation is to be expected and prepared for during the prenatal period, and childbirth educators can help parents navigate the process using metaphor and storytelling. During this session, you will learn two powerful stories of identity reconfiguration, including the metamorphic transformation from caterpillar to butterfly. You will also learn some of the cultural trends heightening postpartum expectations, including denigration of vulnerability, adherence to innocence, quest for perfection, overabundance of information leading to a heightened belief in the illusion of control, and aversion to discussions of death.

Participants may earn 0.5 Lamaze Contact Hours.
