Description

This introductory course will provide a general overview of the concepts surrounding male health. Specifically, this course will address some of the terminology used when discussing men’s hormone balance, the interaction between physiologic systems that interact with the reproductive system, hormone receptor concepts, different hormone evaluation tools, advantages and disadvantages of different dosage forms, and dosing and monitoring of commonly prescribed therapies.

Objectives
- Define key terminology used in modern men's health.
- Describe some of the interactions between the adrenal system, reproductive system, and thyroid system.
- Recommend initial laboratory tests to perform prior to starting therapy and for follow-up.
- Describe some of the important roles of testosterone in male health and pearls related to its therapeutic
application and monitoring.
- Describe some of the additional hormone co-travelers that are related to testosterone and men’s health
and how to prescribe and monitor them.
- Provide advantages and disadvantages of different dosage forms.
- Provide monitoring goals and timelines and discern advantages and disadvantages of different monitoring
tools.

Kerry Earlywine is a Doctor of Pharmacy and a graduate of Nova Southeastern University, College of Pharmacy. He has more than 18 years of experience, having specialized for many years in the practice of compounding pharmacy. His experience in various areas, including but not limited to hormone replacement, autoimmune disorders, autism, nutrition, and various forms of alternative medicine, provide him a holistic approach to the care of the body and the numerous variables that affect its perfect function.
As an assistant professor and adjunct at Nova Southeastern University, College of Pharmacy, Dr. Earlywine assisted with the training and development of other pharmacists and was part of the team that first developed the University’s on-campus pharmacy and pharmaceutical care services. Further, he routinely speaks on the topics of health, nutrition and compounding pharmacy, and serves as a consultant to numerous clients in Colombia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico and the United States.
