Dr Joel Zive PharmD.

Joel L. Zive, PharmD, a third-generation community pharmacist by background, has been practicing pharmacy for over 20 years. He is a courtesy asosciate clinical professor and mentor at the University Of Florida College Of Pharmacy in Gainesville, FL, and is the regional sales director for Aureus Specialty Pharmacy in the Bronx, NY. He earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Georgia, a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy, and a Doctorate in Pharmacy from St. Johns University in New York City.

Dr. Zive ran a family pharmacy in the Bronx, New York, for nearly 20 years. He worked with many types of disease states with specialty focus on HIV and HCV, and completed an HCV clinical rotation at Bronx Lebanon Medical Center. In Florida, Dr. Zive started a pilot program in Gainesville in 2015, providing HIV post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) medications to sexual assault victims.

Honors include receiving an award from the American Pharmacists Association for excellence in ambulatory care and the Prescription Drug Safety Award from the National Association of Community Pharmacists in 2002. Dr/ Zive has appeared on numerous United States television programs and in newspapers discussing pharmacy topics. He has conducted significant humanitarin efforts in Rwanda since 2006, including building a computerized pharmacy with hardware and software imported from the United States. He also trained the staff and the pharmacy, which remain in operation. In 2013, Dr. Zive received a Fulbright Scholarship and taught classes at The National University of Rwanda on pharmacovigilance, good pharmacy practices, and the pharmacist’s role in clinical trials.
