Gil Weber, MBA, is a nationally recognized author, lecturer, and practice management consultant to the managed care and ophthalmic industries. An optician by training, he served most recently as Managed Care Director for the American Academy of Ophthalmology. In that position he was responsible for developing and delivering a wide variety of managed care educational programs, products and services. During a 24-year career in managed care he has also held upper level management positions with national HMOs and PPOs, built and managed three profitable optical shops, and served as special consultant to a regional medical group association and to Vision Service Plan, the nation's largest third party administrator of insured vision care benefits. He received his MBA from Pepperdine University in Los Angeles, graduating first in a class of more than 300.
