Description

Diagnosing and Solving Dispensing Problems This presentation is designed to give you a better understanding for diagnosing, solving and preventing problems when dispensing eyewear. We will discuss common problems associated with vertex distance, magnification, asphericity and frame adjustments. Rx changes and the impact on the base curve will also be discussed. The course offers solutions to these common dispensing problems, as well as how to deal with irate patients when the inevitable problem does occur.

Objectives

Objectives
Upon completion of the course the participant should be able to: identify common dispensing problems, such as vertex, magnification and frame adjustments; understand the relationship between the Rx and base curve with regard to optics and profile; understand the effects of vertical and horizontal prism; recognize the visual or descriptive complaints of a patient to ascertain any optical errors in the eyewear; deal with an irate patient in a professional manner; solve common dispensing problems with simple frame adjustments. NOTE - Some states may consider diagnosing outside an optician's scope of practice.
