Description

Introduction: Advancing technology has given us the ability to use free form surfacing, allowing for far greater precision in spectacle lenses. To provide the best possible vision for our patients, we also need to employ technology in the measurement of the various lens and frame positions relative to the patient’s eyes and face. These values, called Position of Wear measurements, can significantly affect the visual performance of the lens. Today we’ll review the various measurements, their optical effects and measurement thereof. We’ll also discuss how the prescription is compensated for these measurements and verification of the Rx.

Objectives

Objectives
Upon completion of the course, the participant should be able to: review various positions of wear; discuss the optical effects of vertex distance, pantoscopic tilt and face form; be able to confidently discuss benefits of Position of Wear; review POW measurement; understand compensated Rxs; be able to troubleshoot optical problems related to POW.
