Description

Introduction: This education module introduces the integrated approach to eye care known as Healthy Sight Counseling (HSC). The course will familiarize the practitioner with the two major components of HSC: vision care and vision wear, and illustrate how understanding of these factors is necessary in providing patients with the best possible visual health care. Also, it reinforces the importance of taking all factors that effect vision into consideration when evaluating a patient’s visual health, and outlines how to fully appreciate HSC in order to ideally determine visual well-being.

Objectives

Objectives
Upon completion of the course the participant should be able to understand: the importance of incorporating HSC into practice; how HSC can help ECPs provide patients with the best vision care and vision wear; the distinction between normal vision (20/20, quantity) and good vision (quality, glare, contrast sensitivity, light-dark adaptation); the need for early detection and management of ocular conditions; heightened awareness among ECPs as to the ocular side effects of frequently prescribed medications; how UVR exacerbates and accelerates the progression of certain medical conditions.
