Description

Introduction: Millennials are the ‘electronic’ generation in that they have always had computers and smart devices as part of their daily lifestyles. The use of digital devices has amplified their need for lenses to relax accommodation , resulting in various symptoms of eye fatigue. Additionally, members of the the senior population have specific visual needs as their eyes age. Digital designs are more precise, and the addition of anti-reflective coating provides the clearest result for the aging eye. This course will focus on the patterns and behaviors of the different generations and their specific visual needs. The course will finish with discussing digital optical solutions for each generation, including tips for dispensing to the various groups.

Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to: compare/Contrast what the individual generation’s value and how it impacts visual purchases; identify how the various generations use their eyes; match optical solutions for each generation.

Pam began her career in the optical industry in 1970. Her experience spans the full spectrum in this profession. From private practice to manufacturing to wholesale laboratory, she has been the benefactor of tutoring and mentoring by our industry’s leading visionaries. She is currently employed with Shamir Insight as Director of Education. Pam’s latest honor was being named to the OWA Board of Directors in 2011. She was name one of the “Most Influential Women 2008” in the optical industry. This is her most prized award because she was named in the Mentor category. She also received “Educator of the Year” 2005 award from Shamir Insight and co-honoree of the Vision Council Education Lab of the Year in 2003, in recognition of her commitment to excellence in education in the optical industry.
