Description

The Problem of Vertical Imbalance This course will illustrate both the problem of prismatic imbalances in the 90 degree meridian of spectacle lenses and various solutions to the problem. As an introduction to these solutions there will be brief discussion of Prentice's Rule, prismatic effect, and base direction. Following the discussion of the basic lens concepts mentioned above, the course will illustrate the various lens types and combinations of prescription lenses which most readily create the problem of imbalance. With the problem properly identified the final phase of the course will deal with computing the amount of imbalance and correcting for it. Finally, the course will illustrate the basic means of dealing with the customer who may or may not have a problem.
