Description

That’s Not Normal This course will present pictures and definitions of numerous ocular conditions, with discussion of symptoms and possible causes. Objective symptoms are those seen/determined by the examiner, and subjective symptoms are those offered by the patient. Indications and contraindications for contact lenses will be offered. In some instances, the pathology is best seen using a biomicroscope, and recommended illuminations will be discussed.

Learning Outcomes Upon completion of the course the participant should be able to: select a specific slit lamp illumination for a given ocular condition; state at least 2 objective symptoms for each ocular condition; define each ocular condition and their impact on visual health.

Ms. White is a graduate of Erie Community College, and is the former Program Director of the Opticianry Program at Mater Dei College in upstate New York - having taught there for 16 years. She is the 1995 National Federation of Opticianry Schools Educator of the Year. Debra served as the Chair for the Commission on Opticianry Accreditation from 1993-1995, and has held many positions in the New York State Society of Opticians. Ms. White is co-author of Management for Opticians, and has served on several VOSH missions to Mexico to provide eyewear to the needy. Currently, Debra is a contributing author to Vision Care Product News.
