Description

With the relatively high incidence of astigmatism and today’s well designed toric contact lenses many patients should be fitted with them. This course covers the incidence of astigmatism, types of lenses that can be used, and the design of the lenses. The methods of fitting, maintaining rotational stability, measuring the rotation and determining the power and axis to order are discussed and illustrated.

Dr Gerald Lowther O.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Lowther has spent his career providing patient care in the area of contact lenses, teaching contact lens courses in university settings, doing clinical research and lecturing internationally. He is past president of the American Academy of Optometry, National Board of Examiners in Optometry and the International Society for Contact Lens Research. He has published over 100 research papers and authored three books and numerous chapters in other books. He has received numerous awards. He retired from the School of Optometry at Indiana University as dean.
