Description

Keys to performing dental radiography in practice are discussed including:
- General principles and tips for radiographing the teeth
- Imaging techniques
- Radiographic interpretation including tips for differentiating maxillary from mandibular teeth and orientation (right vs left)
- Normal vs pathologic appearance of the teeth and surrounding structures

Objectives

The participant will learn how radiography is used as a diagnostic tool and guide for determining the best course of action and treatment of diseased teeth.
Case examples will be provided for various pathologies including periodontal disease, endodontic disease, malformations, and oral neoplasia.

Dr. Carmichael has been a practicing veterinarian for nearly 20 years. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry and is board certified by the American Veterinary Dental College. Dr. Carmichael performs routine dental care and dental surgery for cats and dogs.
