Description

This program demonstrates the proper applications of blankets, tail wraps, hydrotherapy and grooming of horses, as well as the different types of feed and their purposes. Participants will also learn how to safely perform basic handling techniques including the catch and release of a horse in various settings, the application of a halter, leading, turning, and methods for securing a horse.

Dr. Matthews has been practicing equine medicine since 1981 and has been involved in a number of presentations regarding equine medicine through Peterson and Smith Hospital.
Dr. Thacker has been practicing equine medicine since her graduation in 2004. She completed her ambulatory internship at Peterson and Smith before becoming an associate veterinarian with the teaching hospital in 2005.
